The always-cogent Phil Lawler has provided a good analysis of what's presently known about the dust-up between Fr. Pavone of Priests for Life and his bishop.

In 1867, Matthew Arnold wrote "Dover Beach", a haunting poem evoking the "melancholy, long, withdrawing roar" of the Sea of Faith. As a boomer who finished Catholic elementary school in 1964 and then watched my Church falter, I've found the roar all too audible. So here I am, listening for the whispers of that sea's invincible return.

Lawler made a big mistake. He linked the Sept. 14 Fr. Pavone TV interview, and then wrote exactly the opposite of what Fr. Pavone actually said, regarding the religious order/seminary expenditures in the Diocese of Amarillo. Everyone should check this out for themselves, and then consider if the article "Fr. Pavone's Last Stand" was a "good analysis" or something else altogether.
